“The Raleigh” Leather Briefcase

When choosing a cross body bag made of leather, it is generally best to choose a high-quality leather that is durable, stylish, and easy to maintain. Some good options include full-grain leather and top-grain leather.

Full-grain leather is the highest quality and most expensive type of leather. It is made from the top layer of the hide and has not been sanded, buffed, or corrected in any way, so it retains the natural grain and markings of the hide. Full-grain leather is strong, durable, and develops a patina over time.

When it comes to small functional bags, this leather briefcase is just that. “The Raleigh” leather briefcase is designed with the professional or student in mind, stylish enough for business executives or hip enough students on the go. Standing at 11 inches tall this bag is 13 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep. Made from 5/6 ounce oil tanned leather and handcrafted  in Raleigh, North Carolina. We use a saddle stitch and we stitch it all  by hand with black thread.  Our custom handcrafted jewelry is designed to be one of a kind jewelry pieces and will standout in any room. 

The main compartment is large enough for legal pads, notebooks, books and documents. There are two additional front single compartment pockets big enough for smart-phones, small tablets, pens and pencils, journals and other electronics. The shoulder strap is adjustable, padded and removable by two solid brass trigger snap connectors. 

This leather briefcase can be carried over the shoulder or as a crossbody messenger bag or everyday handbags. There are solid brass D-Ring accessory attachments on both sides of the bag. The All joints are reinforced with nylon/polyester webbing to carry the weight of books and heavy loads. We use two leather straps with solid brass buckles that wrap the entire bag to carry the weight of the contents while using the handheld handle on top. For solid connections and strength our briefcases are handmade using solid brass saddle rivets at all weight carrying joints. This leather briefcase is designed to last several generations and stylish enough for teenagers, young professionals, or senior executives. 

Oil tanned leather is easily cared for by wiping with saddle soap (Fiebing’s Saddle Soap) or Ivory Soap.  Check our blog for more details. To restore the look of a like new briefcase, apply a very light coating of Mink Oil paste. All of these products can be purchased locally at most brick and mortar establishments that sell shoes. Ivory Soap can be purchased at most grocery stores or drug stores.

The complete bag uses just under 8 square feet of leather. Measures 13 inches wide, 11 inches tall and 3.5 inches deep.
